Hole in One!
Several of our Pathway to Golf Members had a match with the Pathway to Golf Members from Eastwood at Eastwood on Tuesday. We won the day playing matches of 2 ball ambrose.
Well done team!
Pathway to Victory!
From Wednesday 30 October all Member competitions will
be held on the Stoney Creek Course. This is the front nine of
the Old Course and the Lakes nine. The couch grass
planting will commence on Nov 7 and history shows we will
be back playing the full old course in time for the club
championships in Early February.
Back 9 Out of Play
Our annual Foursomes Championships are not far away.
The Women’s will be played over 2 Saturdays, 9 & 16
November and the Men will battle it out over 36 holes on 16
November.
What is Foursomes? Most golfers consider Foursomes the
most challenging of all the formats played. In Foursomes,
you play with a partner and only have 1 ball in play. You
then take alternate shots until the ball is holed. You also
take alternate tee shots.
Foursomes Coming up
With the course drying out and no more play on the back 9,
from Wednesday 30 October, preferred lies will no longer be
a local rule. Please note: If you move your ball (because you
forgot) it is a one stroke penalty each time you do it.

Congratulations to Steve
Thornhill who holed out on
the 15th hole on Thursday
to achieve his first hole in
one ever.
There is a new bollard restricting
vehicles from driving across the front
of the clubhouse. There is plenty of
room for carts to go either side.
Don’t be the first cart user to hit it!!
Cart Users Beware!
You can also improve your stance,
swing, driving, chipping and putting
as Mark Griffin is returning to
conduct lessons at Beaconhills. Mark
will be available for lessons on
Sundays between 9am and 5pm at a
cost of $99 for a 1 hour lesson. For
those who don’t know Mark, he was
the resident pro here at Beaconhills
for over 30 years and has an intricate
knowledge of the golf swing and how
to improve your game.
Ann Felgate, Ros Harding
& Cora Shovelton were
very excited to win the Mt
Martha Challenge Bowl
yesterday.
The aggregate score of a
team (3 or 4 players
representing their club)
from as many clubs that
enter.
On the 11th, Lindsay Martin teed off into the trunk of a tree,
which is beside the cart track. After several missiles were
launched toward it, the decision was made to hit an
unplayable. The ball shall remain in perpetuity as an
outstanding example of a direct hit.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Barbara Jackson on 15 October. She was a
long-standing member of Beaconhills from the 1980s. Barbara was Lady President in
1989 & 1990, and a Director on the 1991 Board. However, one of her greatest contributions
to Beaconhills was her 12 years as Publicity Officer. From 1991 she was reporter &
historian, collecting both written & pictorial representation of our club's development. All
these articles (and more), published every week in the Pakenham Gazette, are safely
preserved in folders in the trophy cabinets near Mark's office.
Barbara & husband Graham moved to Sydney about 8 years ago to live near their
children.
