This Week
“A fool and his money make excellent golfing
companions”
While it seems we come back to this topic on a regular
basis, it is something that is very important to be aware of
for the enjoyment of the game for all members. Recently,
there has been some very slow rounds being completed -
getting well beyond 5 hours. Please be aware of your pace
of play and where you are in the field. Your goal should
always be to be up with the group in front and complete
each 9 holes in no longer than 2 hours and 10 minutes in a
group of 4.
Some tips for maintaining your place in the field.
- Play ready golf
- It is not a rule the furthest away has to play first. If
you are ready to play and it is safe to do so - play
your shot. - If you get to the tee and it is safe to play, a member
of the group must play before they have done the
scoring for the previous hole. - There is no need to play 'honours' on the tee. The
first person to the tee should play as soon as it is
safe to do so. - Be ready to play your shot. Get prepared for your
shot whilst others are playing theirs.
- It is not a rule the furthest away has to play first. If
If your group is falling behind, you need to action to correct
it. A very easy step to take is to send two people to the tee
as soon as they have putted out.
Please remember that if you have concerns with the pace
of play of any group, your only course of action to address
this is to call the pro shop.
