2 Cart Rule in Place
As preferred lies are now in place, the rule of only 2 carts
per group now applies. Please note that if you fail to
comply to this rule, you will be disqualified from the
competition and may incur further sanctions.
3rd Hole - GUR
The mounds on the left side of the 3rd hole have been changed from Compulsory GUR to GUR. This means you may now play your ball from this area if you wish or you can still take relief on the fairway.
Without Rules, There is Chaos.....
Over the next few weeks, we are going to focus on some basic rules to help new members (and some older ones) with some of the fundamentals of the game.
This week we would like to start by talking about why the rules, and our ability to play by them, is so important.
Golf is a bit strange in that it is one of the only games whereby the player is their own referee. Therefore, it makes sense that if you are your own referee, you need to know the rules.
This is easier said than done as it fair to say, there are quite a few rules in golf. But don't despair! There are some basic rules that cover the vast majority of situations you may find yourself in on the course.
What happens if you are on the course and don't know what to do in a certain situation?
Step 1. Check with your marker - this is the person who is keeping your score. They are responsible for keeping check on your round and your compliance with the rules.
Step 2. If they don't know the answer, maybe someone else in your group does.
Step 3. Ring the pro shop to seek clarification.
Step 4. If no one is able to give you a definitive answer, play 2 balls (1 for each possible ruling) and seek further clarification after your round.
If you do not follow these steps, you may find yourself in trouble with the Match Committee and receiving a penalty or disqualification from the competition.
At the end of the day, the only way we can have a fair and equitable competition is by everyone playing by the rules.

WHAT’S ON
This Week
Theo (did not make the) Green
There is often some chortles and sniggers when someone playing off the whites doesn't make the green tees. Theo Green took this to another level actually finishing behind the white tees after stone cold topping his tee shot on the 16th. Drinks are on Theo!
